Imo governorship poll: INEC announces APC’s Uzodinma as winner

Imo State Governor and the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hope Uzodinma, was yesterday declared winner of the Saturday governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Returning Officer for the Imo State Governorship Election and Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti, Prof. Abayomi Fashina, while announcing the result, said Uzodinma scored the highest number of valid votes cast and was returned elected for a second term in office.

It was gathered that Uzodinma polled 540,308 votes to defeat his closest rivals, Sam Anyanwu, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who scored 71,503 to come second, and Athan Achonu, of the Labour Party (LP), who scored 64,081 votes to come third.

 
Uzodimma won in all the 27 local government areas of the State in the November 11, 2023 governorship poll.
